The Chick-fil-A Bowl odds opened with the Auburn Tigers as slim one point favorites. That number has now been bet up to a three point favorite as the Tigers are getting some heavy public action to the tune of 61 percent from the consensus report.
For Auburn, running back Michael Dyer is suspended for this game, but that should not slow down the Auburn offense as Onterio McCalebb is a very capable backup. The Tigers offense is doing great this year but the defense is having some serious problems. Outside of defensive end Corey Lemonier, the Tigers defense has struggled mightily at times.
It might even be harder for the Bowl game because the Tigers defensive coordinator left for Central Florida. Head Coach Gene Chizik will call the defensive plays as well and that double duty means that the Tigers will have a different preparation plan than normal for this game.
The Cavaliers have been highly underrated all season long. A team that just managed four wins a season ago was a major player in the ACC Championship run. Although they fell short the played tough the entire way and proved to be a worthy opponent. The Cavalier offense has a bevy of weapons that can move the chains led by senior Kris Burd. This wide receiver is a first-down magnet and converts with ease. Virginia running back Perry Jones is the main man out of the backfield and should do well against an Auburn run defense that is 98th in the nation against the run.
The Tigers are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games following a loss and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 non-conference games, to include 1-7-1 ATS in their last 9 against the ACC. The Cavaliers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a double-digit loss at home and 4-1 ATS in the last five bowl games.
The Tigers defense cannot be fixed in this short of time and the Cavaliers will easily move the ball and win this game on the field.
