When the college football odds for week 10 were released it was a bit stunning to see that the Toledo Rockets were set up as 7 point favorites. The early sports betting money from the public came in on the rockets and the line has shot up to 8.5 points in many offshore sportsbooks.
In the last meeting the Northern Illinois Huskies covered a double digit spread when they trounced the Rockets by a final score of 65-30. The Huskies are led by senior quarterback Chandler Harnish who has an excellent weapon in the backfield in running back Jasmin Hopkins. While this is a very talented team, they have had trouble playing for the entire game and often suffer mental lapses that hurt them in the game. They will have to be sharp if they want to keep up in this game.
Toledo’s offensive is explosive on the ground led by sophomore David Fluellen, senior Adonis Thomas and senior Morgan Williams who are a nightmare for opposing defenses. With a serious ground game that is nearly impossible to stop, it opens up a passing game that can rack up points quickly. The Rockets have two quarterbacks that are capable of making big plays and breaking the game wide open.
Toledo is a much better team and unless they turn over the ball they should be in a great spot to get revenge in this game. The Huskies are 3-9-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 13 meetings and 1-5 ATS in their last six meetings in Toledo.
The Rockets are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games as a home favorite, 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games as a home favorite of 3.5-10.0, and 23-8 ATS in their last 31 games as a favorite of 3.5-10.0. The line should go only higher in this game, but it won’t matter as the rout is on when the Rockets host the Huskies on Tuesday night college football.
