NFL Week 12 Predictions: Are The San Francisco 49ers Easy Prey For The Baltimore Ravens?
The San Francisco 49ers will head to Baltimore to play the Ravens on the night of Thanksgiving as the NFL Network will showcase both teams on Thursday night football.
The NFL week 12 odds for this game opened with the Baltimore Ravens as 3.5 point favorites. That was quickly bet down to three points as the public are jumping on the 49ers at a 60% clip. This is not surprising as the 49ers are considered to be the second best team in the NFC this year, if not the NFL.
ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer suggested that if the 49ers win this game that they will indeed be the second best team in the NFL behind the Green Bay Packers. The 49ers have had some success coming to the East Coast this year, but this game will be different.
San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh, who will be squaring off with his brother and Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh in Week 12, said he appreciates being part of a special first featuring siblings on opposite sidelines as head coaches. However, Jim Harbaugh believes his team got the short end of the straw for having to travel cross-country on a short week. 'I definitely think it was very considerate of the NFL to reunite the brothers on Thanksgiving. I think that's going to be very difficult for our team,' Harbaugh said. 'There's no question that we drew the short end of the straw on this one.'
It is quite obvious that the 49ers are not happy about coming on the road for this game and expect a flat 49ers team to take the field. The Ravens on the other hand will be home and ready to go. After a big divisional win without linebacker Ray Lewis, the Ravens are riding high and will have the luxury of being at home for this primetime matchup.
The NFL trends indicate a play on the favorites. The 49ers are 7-22-4 ATS in their last 33 games following a win of more than 14 points, 2-6-3 ATS in their last 11 games as a road underdog of 0.5-3.0, and 1-7-2 ATS in their last 10 games as an underdog of 0.5-3.0. The Ravens are 15-5-2 ATS in their last 22 games after scoring more than 30 points in their previous game, 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 games as a home favorite of 0.5-3.0, and 48-23-2 ATS in their last 73 games as a home favorite overall.
The Ravens will be primed and ready to go for this big game. These teams are similar in the style of play, but the edge on talent belongs to the Ravens.
