The opening point-spread in this game has the Cowboys listed as seven point favorites. This does not come as a surprise since the Cowboys are higher ranked and the Longhorns had a horrible showing in a big game last week.
The betting public was watching that game as 91% of the money coming in to online sportsbooks favors the Cowboys. This is enough to move the line past a key number as many of the outlets have moved the number to 7.5. This is typical overreaction by the public to one bad outing as they pile up on the higher ranked team.
Quarterback Brandon Weeden is an often ignored to player in college football and he leads a very potent offense for the Cowboys. There is no doubt that this offense can put up big points against any team in the country, but their weakness is on the defensive side of the ball.
The Cowboys defense gives up an average of 430 yards on the season and that number increases to over 470 yards per game on the road. Texas can take advantage of this on offense.
Last week the Longhorns were exploited by turnovers. Many of those turnovers happened in bad spot on the field which cost points or set up the Sooners for easy scores. Expect a better performance this week after that game and for the Longhorns to cut back on the turnovers. The Longhorns have also rebounded in the past after losing the Red River Rivalry.
Last year after losing to Oklahoma the Longhorns went on the road and beat Nebraska in a hostile environment. This year if they were to beat Oklahoma State the loss to Oklahoma could be all but erased. A huge win over a top ten team could get this team headed in the right direction.
The Longhorns are 8-1 against the spread in their last nine games following a double-digit loss at home and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game.
The Longhorns have revenge for a blowout loss at home a year ago and will be ready to atone with a big game on Saturday.
